Margate is cool!! It is a vibrant coastal town, with something for everyone. Margate's Old Town is a delight of cobbled streets with contemporary and retro shopping and eclectic galleries. The fabulous food scene ranges from world class fish and chips to locally sourced farm to table dishes, from organic coffee to Kent wines. Margate's Turner Contemporary is a must see and Antony Gormley’s ANOTHER TIME sculpture emerges from the sea at low tide. There is an ever expanding programme of gigs and concerts at Dreamland; take in the fun fair rides or grab some skates and whizz around the Roller Room. Nothing beats a summer's day on Margate's Main Sands but the generally mild climate means that you have a good chance of sunshine year round, and hopefully a stunning Margate sunset, made famous by Turner. If the weather is not so good, you can check out Margate’s two amazing underground experiences - Margate Caves, which were originally dug as a chalk mine in the 18th century and feature creative murals and the mysterious subterranean wonder of the Shell Grotto with walls covered in 4.6 million shells. The award winning Bus Cafe - a double-decker bus right on the promenade - is right outside the door of 2 Seaview, and is the best place for breakfast. I recommend running or cycling along the promenade to work up an appetite first. For something more adventurous, the Viking Coastal Trail can be walked or cycled to the neighbouring resorts of Broadstairs and Ramsgate. And if you enjoyed Empire of Light, you can take a walking tour of all the film locations, including Cliftonville, which was ranked 8th in Time Out’s ‘Coolest Neighbourhoods in the World 2022’.
2 Seaview is located 5 minutes walk from Margate train station. Southeastern operates a High Speed train service from London St Pancras International Station to Margate which takes approximately 90 minutes . There are also frequent trains between Margate and London Victoria (approximately 1 hour 50 minutes), London Waterloo East and London Charing Cross (both approximately 2 hours).
There is paid parking located at the train station and free on street parking is often available outside the Nayland Rock Hotel.
